In the eastern part of Promontory dof Portofino, there is the city of Santa Margherita Ligure, for local citizens simply “Santa”. Here you can admire many elegant buildings with magnificent “trompe l’oeil” and magnificent “risseu” mosaics on the streets of the centre. It is a very lively and welcoming town that has a lot to offer visitors, from restaurants to luxury boutiques. Santa Margherita Ligure is rightly considered one of the capitals of tourism, as well as the gastronomic capital, also famous for the Santa red prawn, which is offered in all restaurants overlooking the sea.
Absolutely to visit Villa Durazzo-Centurione. Two villas and a large seventeenth century park.
Very interesting to visit is also the Castle of Santa Margherita Ligure built in 1550 directly on the seafront, and the ancient Abbey of the Cervara Abbey built in 1361 with a magnificent view of the sea and the English gardens.
